The Samsung Galaxy S6 was launched in April 2015. As the best smartphone of 2015, it has come a long way from being a plastic-coated android device to something that every android lover will cherish.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Even though the Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones have been barred due to some glitches, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is still ruling the android world. Some may call it a replica of the iPhone but Android fanatics everywhere know the true power of this phone and the magic it can unleash.

Let’s talk about the changes this beast has brought to the mobile world.

Enhanced Design:

Samsung Galaxy S6 is built on a metal frame body, similar to that of the Note 4 and the mid-range Galaxy Alpha. The S6 holds a striking resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in terms of size and design.

The Samsung S6 has a pill-shaped rounded top and straight sides. The nano-SIM card slot and power button sit along the right side of the phone. At the bottom, you will find the USB port and the headset jack. The left side holds volume buttons in a similar fashion to the iPhone 6.

At the back of the Samsung Galaxy S6, you’ll find a shiny 16MP camera with LED flash light, a heart-rate monitor and an infrared blaster to control your television set. The Samsung logo is also engraved at the center.

The smartphone has a single button at the lower bottom of the front screen that launches the camera on double tap and the menu on a single tap.

Samsung S6 uses the homemade Exynos octa-core processor for the first time instead of the popular Qualcomm processor. It may mark the beginning of a war of processors between android smartphones. The HTC One M9, a close competitor of Samsung Galaxy S6, uses Qualcomm Octa-core processor.

On the software side, the smartphone can handle heavy-coded games fairly well as shown by the results of Real Racing 3. In the case of Google Earth graphics, S6 showed more or less the same performance as the iPhone 6.

The smartphone features 3GB RAM which is considered sufficient for all types of android apps. As for the built-in memory, Samsung decided to remove external storage options from the Galaxy S6 and instead focus on improving cloud storage. It eliminates the problem of storage limit altogether. The phone is available in three variations: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

The GeekBench 3 report ruled in favor of the Samsung S6, particularly when tested on multi-core processors. Other participants in the group included HTC One M9, LG G Flex 2, Samsung Galaxy 5, and the Apple iPhone 6.

The runner-ups in the category were HTC One M9 and LG G Flex 2. The iPhone 6, although it claimed the trophy in single-core war, was officially beaten by the group in multi-core processing.

Samsung S6 features a 16MP camera with an aperture of f/1.9 offering the same resolution as that of the Galaxy Note 4. S6 is the second phone to have the image stabilization feature after the Samsung Note 4, which improves shaky hand shots and provides high definition images that don’t need to be treated as the white balance is automatically adjusted. The phone also supports a front camera of 5-megapixel, which is ideal for the selfie generation.

This is clearly an improvement in comparison with HTC One M9 that has a 9-hour battery life. Keeping in mind the busy phone-intensive lives of people, Samsung has added a quick-charge feature in their phone that allows wireless charging within an hour. Users may still have to carry a power bank if they are traveling long distances and lack electricity on the way.

Other features of the Samsung Galaxy S6 include Fingerprint scanning, wireless charging, a smart scroll and a smart pause.

Final Thoughts:

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the most competitive android smartphones of 2015. The phone, with Exynos processor, has the power to run all applications released this year.

On the visual side, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has one of the finest cameras for immersive captures. With 16MP camera, the phone captures shots that do not require any editing. The outdoor shots taken by Samsung Galaxy S6 are even better than indoor shots.
