Apple iPhone 8 to feature OLED Displays, No Home Key
April 5, 2017
Apple has just ordered around 70 million bendable “OLED” displays from Samsung for its soon to be released iPhone 8, Nikkei, an Asian news website has reported.
The new leak has confirmed the rumors of Apple iPhone 8 having an edge-to-edge display similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S8. Moreover, the leak says that beside the curved bezel-less display, the device will also have no home key.
This may be a game changer for the Apple iPhones because until now all smartphones had bordered IPS display.
Apple iPhone 8 Price: Starts from $850…
April 5, 2017
A Financial Services Company UBS analyst Steven Milunovich has said that Apple iPhone 8 will be priced similar to the Samsung S8. He gave the starting figure of $850 for the 64GB variant of iPhone 8 and $950 for the 256GB variant.
The price can be different but the bottom line is that it will remain under $1000. Initially, it was expected that iPhone 8 will be priced above $1000 range.
The reason iPhone 8 is being priced higher than Samsung Galaxy S8 is because of higher factory costs. The Galaxy S8’s starting price is $750. UBS Asia hardware analyst Arthur Hsieh told Macrumours blog that the manufacturing cost of iPhone 8 is around $80 higher than iPhone 7s Plus, which was priced at $769.
iPhone 8 to have IOS 11
March 28, 2017
The Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were having IOS 10, so it is most likely that the new smartphone will have IOS 11 installed on it.
But There is One Hitch
The smartphone manufacturer, Apple has not yet announced IOS 11 officially. This has led the analysts into a turmoil about the official OS of the new release.
It is most likely that the new IOS 11 will be launched at Worldwide Developer Conference, expected to take place in June 2017.
iPhone 7s – A USB type-C Connection?
Apple recently introduced Type C USB port in its Macbook range. Same is expected from the manufacturer for iPhone 8. The analyst Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple will include type C USB support in all three smartphones that it will launch in September 2017.
The type C port will also be available on chargers replacing the old lightning USB port.
By this replacement, all iOS and Android Smartphones will have the same type C USB support port in future releases.
Finally, the big question.
Should you wait for iPhone 8?
Our two cents for iPhone 8 is that if you are fine with your current iPhone 7 smartphone, then you should stick with it. However, if you want to move to an iPhone 8, decide after the product has been released. This will help determine if the iPhone 8 is truly worth buying or not.
You should know that the iPhone 7 wasn’t much of a big difference in comparison with iPhone 6. Besides, except a few changes such as wireless charging and AR support, we do not see any reason to move to iPhone 8 yet.
Also if you are not a die-hard Apple fan, you can try other alternatives such as the LG G6 and Google Pixel, which have scored highly in our previous reviews.
